Dell is looking to ease the transition to EMR systems with the Clinical Service Desk, a 24/7/365 single point of contact staffed by clinical experts with direct experience designing, implementing, supporting and using EMR systems. While the Service Desk has been in trial stages with partners, Dell is now offering integration with healthcare software vendor Epic's Healthcare Information System (HIS) platform.
For VARs focusing on the healthcare space, Dell is working to offer a full complement of hardware and services to answer the call. In addition to the Clinical Services Desk, Dell also offers practice management and EMR software, infrastructure solutions (including secure cloud offerings), and a service portfolio including program planning, clinical workflow optimization and clinical support.
To be sure, the healthcare vertical is evergreen with opportunity, what with government regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), not to mention the myriad benefits EMR can provide patients and caregivers alike. Dell is working to make sure its partners are covered, as is HP with its recent deal with Ingram Micro. Is there more to come in health care? My prognosis is yes.
