During Oracle OpenWorld 2012 last fall, the company hosted Social Media Rally Stations. Key participants included Heather K. Margolis, founder of Channel Maven Consulting. Margolis over the past two or three years has emerged as an authority on social media and channel marketing.
Smyers also is a social media authority, having led many of Oracle's channel-centric initiatives across video, Twitter, Facebook and Oracle's own corporate blogs. "The goal is not to just build a Facebook page," said Smyers. "Rather, we all need to modernize the way we think about IT -- especially since chief marketing officers are becoming the biggest customers of IT."
Overall, Oracle's enablement series includes an enablement resource center, including a 12-week webcast series and library of valuable best-practice and how-to guides. The initial content shows partners how to enhance their online profiles, build community on Twitter and LinkedIn, and maximize the benefits of Google AdWords. As an added perk, Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) members can use the Oracle trademark in their AdWord campaigns.
Also, a video series shows partners how to build their online brand.
