VMware (VMW) has added server storage acceleration company PernixData to its Partner Verified and Supported Product (PVSP) program, once again expanding the company’s reach into the virtualization market.

According to PernixData, all of the operations of its FVP offering are managed natively within vSphere, allowing for seamless management via the vSphere web client. The software virtualizes all server-side flash into a clustered acceleration tier that enables IT administrators to scale out storage performance independent of storage capacity, according to the press release.

Jeff Aaron, PernixData’s VP of Marketing, noted his company is the first vendor to support vSphere 5.5 and the first to incorporate native integration with VMware’s web client support.

“Our solution is pretty unique in that we’re deployed inside the VMware hypervisor. We’re actually using open APIs that are available from VMware,” said Aaron in an interview with The VAR Guy. “They really have no programs specifically for certifying products like this, which is where the PVSP program comes in. For us it's great because it gives our resellers and our customers this seal of approval … so they can deploy this thing with confidence knowing that it is a VMware-validated solution.”

PernixData FVP supports all versions of vSphere 5.0 and greater and can be deployed inside vSphere in less than 20 minutes, without having to reboot the virtual machines, servers or primary storage, according to PernixData.

VMware's PVSP program works with vendors to promote new technologies that cannot be validated through any existing VMware certification programs. Currently, there are 13 partners validated through the program.
