This week's Distribution Watch features the latest news from Avnet, Lifeboat Distribution and Global Convergence Inc.
The weather may finally be getting cold out here on the East Coast, but that hasn’t stopped us from gathering some of the hottest distribution news for your reading pleasure. (See what we did there?) This week we’ve got the latest from our friends at Avnet (AVT), Lifeboat Distribution (WSTG) and Global Convergence Inc (GCI).
Avnet: Eric Williams is the first executive to be named as Avnet Worldwide’s vice president of Internet of Things (IoT), responsible for bolstering the company’s IoT strategy and developing new connected devices.
In his new position, Williams will also work to meet increasing demand for IoT solutions from the distributor’s channel partners and customers, according to Rick Hamada, CEO of Avnet.
“In Eric, we have found an executive with global experience and a proven ability to design, develop and implement innovative programs with positive results,” said Hamada, in a statement. “He has been involved in a broad variety of roles throughout the technology supply chain from identifying new market opportunities to delivering results-driven channel programs. These experiences make him the ideal candidate to lead our IoT strategy and supporting initiatives.”
Williams previously served in several executive-level positions with rival distributor Arrow Electronics (ARW) and also served as an advisor for CABA Technologies and Moon, Inc., according to the announcement.
Lifeboat: Lifeboat Distribution recently became the first North American distributor to offer OnGuard Systems’ security solutions to channel partners in the U.S. and Canada, according to an announcement.
Beginning immediately, Lifeboat partners can sell OnGuard’s Intelligent ID security suite, which includes solutions for Data Loss Prevention, Identity Activity, Productivity Analysis and Infrastructure Monitoring. Lifeboat said it will promote Intelligent ID in conjunction with its security, virtualization and network and infrastructure management solutions.
“Our partners can now offer a cost-effective and quick-to-deploy solution to protect their customers from a multitude of insider threats and to help ensure PCI compliance," said William R. Botti, executive vice president at Lifeboat Distribution. "Additionally, our partners also have the opportunity to expand the Intelligent ID sale to include installation services (once certified) to ensure their customers can maximize the solution."
GCI: Fresh off the announcement of its new global distribution agreement with LightPointe, GCI has named Colin Roe as senior vice president of Global Services Delivery, the company announced last week.
Roe is responsible for overseeing the execution of GCI’s integrated service delivery strategy in the U.S. and internationally, according to the announcement. He formerly served as Europe Services Integration Director for Dimension Data Europe prior to taking on his new role.
“GCI continues to attract extraordinary talent and I’m extremely pleased to welcome Colin Roe to the team,” said Jim Bradshaw, chairman and CEO at Global Convergence. “Colin’s expertise in building delivery infrastructure models and the supporting processes to win and deliver international deals will be instrumental in our continued global expansion strategy for integrated service.”
That’s all for now, folks. We hope to see you back here in 7 days for even more distribution-centric news. Until then, keep on distributing.
