Happy Friday, and welcome one and all to the greatest show on earth: Distribution Watch. Okay, that may be an overstatement, but you’re here, I’m here … so it’s a party, right? This week we’ve got news from Avnet (AVT) and D&H Distributing, so grab your popcorn and don’t tease the clowns.

Avnet: The Technology Solutions arm of Avnet now is offering six Avnet-configured HP Converged Infrastructure solutions, based on HP VirtualSystem. These new solutions are available exclusively for Avnet’s HP (HPQ) channel partners and are designed to accelerate converged infrastructure initiatives, simplify system management and improve IT performance for end customers.

The HP Converged Infrastructure solutions combine HP technologies, including HP BladeSystem and HP ProLiant DL rackmount servers, HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage and HP networking, providing pre-configured architecture and management models. They are optimized for small, midsize and large virtualization deployments ranging from 96 to 320+ virtual machines.

These solutions include HP installation and implementation services. Partners can also leverage the Avnet Technical Army, which can augment partners’ pre-sales technical staff, help partners gain a deeper understanding of HP products, facilitate technology demonstrations and develop configurations and systems designs.

D&H Distributing: The Harrisburg, Pa.-based distributor has won the Platinum Level Operational Excellence Award from Microsoft (MSFT), rewarded for delivering market-leading operational excellence supporting Microsoft technology over the past year.

"D&H's Licensing Desk and the entire team is honored to have won this distinction from Microsoft for the tenth year running," said Jeff Davis, senior vice president of Sales at D&H Distributing. "We're proud that the service has so consistently offered top-notch support for our reseller community, and we will continue to uphold these standards."

Partners achieving this award outperformed their competitors in the North American channel, comprised of more than 30 candidates. D&H Distributing was recognized for superior operational excellence, meeting or exceeding specific requirements for the number of valid agreements in a variety of categories, as well as the number of on-time and valid order submissions and revenue reconciliation.

And once again, the curtain is drawn on this week’s Distribution Watch. Tune in next week for another exciting episode. Until then, stay safe.
