If you’ve been on the fence about making the jump to developing on the Microsoft Windows Azure and SQL Azure cloud platforms, then The VAR Guy has some good news for you: Microsoft is giving out one free one month passes to US developers. Here’s the scoop.

The first 500 US-based people to sign up every month get the so-called Windows Azure One Month Pass USA, says the official Windows Azure team blog entry. If you’re lucky enough to get ahold of a pass, you get access to both platforms for the calendar month without so much as a credit card required.

To sweeten the deal, Microsoft’s offering pass recipients free phone, chat, and email support - and they’re offering new developers giving it a spin an easy-start guide, to boot.

Microsoft’s already claiming that it has 16,000 cloud partners, and we know that Windows Azure is a major part of the company's enterprise strategy going forward. But will the One Month Pass initiative get Azure the kind of widespread adoption Microsoft is clearly looking for?
