The VAR Guy is reaching into his sofa, grabbing all available quarters and heading to LinuxWorld San Francisco on August 7. No, not to blog about open source. Instead, he’ll attend the Vyatta Open Arcade Classic — a charity event featuring open source leaders playing Asteroids, Pac-Man, Defender, Donkey Kong and Centipede.
Lookout, folks. The VAR Guy is an old hand at these classics. In fact, he has each of those arcade games–except Defender–in his garage. Oh, and don’t get him started about Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, Missile Command, Space Invaders … they’re all at home in his home.
Anyone interested in attending the arcade charity event can RSVP to tmccafferty [at] vyatta.com or denise [at] eastwick.com.
Need to practice before the event? Save your quarters and play Pac-Man right here.

thanks for the mention. It should be a lot of fun and I look forward to meeting you and your readers at the party.
While you’re in CA, you might want to get in touch with Craig, from Craigslist, to see if he can unpost your arcade games while you are out in CA.
If the VAR guys wife wants to sell those arcade games in the garage while the VAR guy is out of town I’d be interested in buying them. Contact me!!!

Hello. I have to do a demonstration speech for school and I wanted to demonstrate how to properly play Pac Man. I have to interview someone who knows a lot about the subject. So if you could please send this e-mail back as soon as possible with the five questions answered that would be great.
1. Is there a “secret” to winning Pac Man?
2. Why is it important to have a pattern when going around the playing field?
3. What are some of the basic techniques?
4. What can I do to improve my game?
5. How long does it generally take to get to the 256th level?
Thanks for taking time to help.
